The Rideau Swing Collective and Westie Underground are thrilled to bring Samantha Buckwalter (she/her) to Ottawa this summer for the first time. Sam grew up in West Coast Swing and has spent her career broadening what the dance can be. She's the first woman to compete at the Champion level as both a leader and follower, and she brings both a deep appreciation for WCS's history and an enthusiasm for its future to every workshop and performance. She understands how the dance works from both roles - whether you lead, follow, or both, you're going to get a deeper feel for the conversation at the heart of West Coast Swing. 

About Samantha

Samantha is one of the voices actively shaping the future of West Coast Swing and has an absolute jungle of trophies and accolades to prove it (Grand Nationals Champion, California Swing Dance Hall of Fame, Americas Classic Top teacher). When she's not travelling, she's hosting innovative workshops and socials at the Atomic Ballroom, dancing with everyone in her community, and being the best dog mom to 3 very good bois.
