Competitors Practice (Winter 2026)
Competitors Practice (Winter 2026)
When: Thursday, March 12 - April 2, 8:30PM - 9:30PM
Where: Churchill Seniors Recreation Centre
This class is designed to help students to prepare to be successful in WSDC competitions. The goal is to prepare students mentally, physically, and strategically.
Who’s this for?
This class is for anyone planning to attend and compete at West Coast Swing event weekends (eg. Swing in Bloom, Montreal Westie Fest, Waterloo Ontario Open, etc). More specifically, this class is for those who will be competing in the Newcomer or Novice divisions, although those competing at higher levels would still benefit from the individual feedback.
What happens in class?
Classes will include conversations on how competitions work (including registration, logistics, and judging), and on how to mentally prepare for competitions. There will also be a focus on individual feedback for class participants, with many opportunities to receive and work on the feedback you will receive.
Do I need a partner?
No partner is necessary. West coast swing is a social dance, so we’ll be constantly switching partners during the class so that you can become a great dancer with anyone. If you’d prefer to dance with just one person, let us know and we can accommodate that.
What should I bring?
- A pair of clean indoor shoes, no outdoor shoes will be allowed in the studio. Runners, dance shoes, or clean socks in a pinch all work.
- A water bottle
