West Coast Swing Foundations
West Coast Swing Foundations
When: Thursday, Jan 16 - Mar 27, 7:30PM - 8:30PM
Where: Churchill Seniors Recreation Centre
Join us for our ongoing West Coast Swing Fundamentals series. Each month we will focus on a single pattern type (push, pass, or whip), starting with the basics and adding more complexity each week.
Who’s this for?
This class is for anyone who’s either brand new, has been dancing west coast swing for less than a year, or more experienced dancers who want more structured practice for their basics.
What happens in class?
Students will be introduced to a specific pattern or concept then given ample opportunity to practice while frequently rotating partners. The final 15 minutes of class is always dedicated to social dancing, which will allow students to simulate the experience of attending a dance party.
Do I need a partner?
No partner is necessary. West coast swing is a social dance, so we’ll be constantly switching partners during the class so that you can become a great dancer with anyone. If you’d prefer to dance with just one person, let us know and we can accommodate that.
What should I bring?
- A pair of clean indoor shoes, no outdoor shoes will be allowed in the studio. Runners, dance shoes, or clean socks in a pinch all work.
- A water bottle
